Welcome to blakexavier.com! I’m Elliott (Blake Xavier) Woodson and this is my story. When I was younger, my mom would often say I had a bad case of the wants, her exact words often were "Elliott, you want too much" and of course just like any other child that did nothing more than fuel additional request (laughing). One day in the midst of one of my request rants my mother realizing I was on her last nerve said something that I will cherish all my days. She looked at me and said, "Necessity is the mother of invention, you know". I stopped, pondered and replied "what does that mean, that’s not an answer". "It is so", she replied, at which point I stormed off. From that point on whenever I asked for something I particularly didn’t need, this was her response. I can’t tell you how many times I heard that, but my mom said it every chance she could. Little did either of us know the seeds of invention were being planted.
Long story short, in the midst of a 23 year career in Information Technology, I thought to myself - How cool would it be to have a belt that worked without holes and didn’t have that annoying excess strap on the end? Early 2012 I began sketching from scratch an idea that represented a product that I would have liked to own. Through many sketches, 2-D drawings, 3-D drawings, several prototypes, and countless hours of research over the course of roughly 3 ½ years I completed my first invention…The Ultimate Belt.
This has been nothing less than an amazing journey, clearly the most difficult and risky venture I’ve ever embarked on. I launched late September 2016, and must say…Thank you mom, you were right…necessity is the mother of invention and thank you Grandma, who’s hard work and rigid preparedness set the stage for my success. Last but certainly not least, thank you to my amazing wife who has stood with me through it all!
I know you will enjoy The Ultimate Belt just as much as I enjoyed creating it!
